Description

Principal Automation Engineer. Due to continued growth, my client - a multinational medical device company based in the Midlands is looking for a Principal Automation Engineer to join their site. As a Principal Engineer, you will essentially be a Subject Matter Expert onsite and will report in to the US. I am looking for somebody strategic, driven and technically strong with a keen eye for detail. Responsibilities: You will lead a program to search for improvements through certain principles and strategies for automation. You will create improvements/ an automation roadmap which feeds into budgeting for the next two years. You will manage critical automation projects through their typical lifecycle for legacy products and new product development projects. You will provide guidance to manufacturing sites on automation strategies, best practices and project lifecycle workstream. You will provide subject matter expertise to vendor automation related stakeholders as appropriate and performs test, debugging and troubleshooting activities on mission critical automation systems. You will prepare design specifications, analysis and recommendations for presentation and approval. You may, from time to time, specify materials, equipment and supplies required for completion of projects and evaluates vendor capabilities to provide required products or services. Key Skills and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, science, or closely related discipline. A degree or background in Mechatronics Engineering. A minimum of 6 years' experience in a medical device or biotechnology industry, with demonstrated track record of leading automation systems development. Knowledgeable & experienced about mechanical, electrical/electronic design, programmable logic controls (PLC) – Allen Bradley, pneumatic systems, motor control, vision systems, and instrumentation. Knowledgeable on project management of automation systems development lifecycle. Knowledgeable and experienced on Design for Excellence (DFX) Principles and risk management methodologies such as PFMEA. Strong mechanical aptitude (understanding and using machines and tools. Solid Works and/or AutoCAD, MS Office, MS Project. Effective verbal, non-verbal, visual, and written communication skills. Knowledge of Cyber Security and Data Integrity.
