Description

Health & Safety Officer. Kinnegad Neg + Package. To efficiently and effectively provide professional opinion, knowledge and expertise in the management of the health and safety programme while ensuring compliance to all Health & Safety legislation. Key Tasks. Advise senior managers, including board directors on all aspects of health and safety, ensuring updates on current practices, legislation, directives, codes of practice, and relevant case law. Ensure compliance with all current legislation in relation to health and safety in the workplace, and to provide updates on legislation and regulations to companies as appropriate. Provide model health and safety policies and procedures, which takes into account changes in the legislation (primary and secondary), and which can be used as an effective base for company specific health and safety management systems. Assist and advise the Company Directors on a health and safety specific training plan for each level of post with the companies and for this to be used by the Company based health and safety representatives as a training template. Manage the health and safety management system. Highlight the legal responsibilities and operational duties by which company health and safety representatives will work to in the efficient management of health and safety within each company. To assume the role of internal health and safety auditor, reporting to the senior management team on the work of the Health and Safety co-ordinates; including timely audits, and compliance with the health and safety policies and procedures – reporting any issues to the Company Directors in a timely and appropriate fashion. Submit a detailed monthly Health and Safety audit report to the senior management team, highlighting areas of strength and weakness, proposing refinements to the Health and Safety system and highlighting any infringements of the health and safety legislation and outline corrective action. In order to build the health and safety reputation of the company, attendance at external bodies and company related associations will be essential. Use of this information will ensure that health and safety policy and procedure remains consistent with the sector norms. Advising on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases. Deliver training modules (safety communication) to all levels of the Organisation for example “Tool Box Talks” Safety communications: designing, communicating and administering safety communications. E.g. safety posters, safety alerts, updating notice-boards, etc. Challenging our Health and Safety culture, e.g. questioning the learning from Toolbox Talks. Assisting with initial stages of accident and incident investigation. Following up on safety concerns, closing out on safety concerns, running monthly reports on the status of safety concerns. Administration of training documentation and updating the company's health and safety statement. Participating in special health and safety projects, E.g. Entering and achieving health and safety awards. Administration of the requirements for OHSAS 18001, E.g. Documenting.
