Engineering Manager - Mechanical Design. Role Location: Westmeath. Role Type Permanent. Our client is based in Co Westmeath; easily commutable from Galway east, Cavan, Mullingar and surrounds. They are inviting applicants for an engineering manager to join their team for a permanent role. This role would suit a senior mechanical design engineer that has prior mentoring experience that is ready to take the next step in their career. Prior experience in mechanical design within automation will be highly regarded. You will lead up the mechanical design team of designers and applications engineers and be the first point of contact for the senior management team on all matters in related to mechanical design - design meetings, quality, ERP drawing management and mentoring of team members. This role will involve some level of design work but you will also be customer facing and work closely with other lead roles in terms of sales support and product installation. Your input into overall strategic direction will also be required. You will take pride of place in ensuring the mechanical design team is managed efficiently. Duties and responsibilities to include the following: Management of the Engineering Department. Customisation & development of our product range to meet demanding diverse applications. Design of automation equipment from first principles. Proficiency in Solid Works. Exposure to a Research & Development environment desirable. Knowledge of Alliance for Manufacturing or other MRP systems. MS office, Word, Excel, electronic mail etc. Supervision of assembly and installation personnel both mechanical, electrical and controls. Good communication skills essential. Project Management for service personnel during system installation. Equipment specifications, purchasing negotiations and scheduling. Trouble shooting and problem resolution. Managing the Company Engineering Manual. Quality control, carrying out final audit on conveyor systems prior to shipping. Ability to work to agreed deadlines and to a high standard. Good working knowledge of current Safety legislation and European directives. Ability to construct technical manuals and documentation. Understanding of control systems and capabilities desirable. Capability of working on own initiative or as part of project team. The person will have excellent design and analytical ability and have a broad based understanding of controls enabling them to shorten the design stages of a project through both a design and hands on approach.
