Description

Production Supervisor - Co. Westmeath. Principal Accountabilities: You will be responsible for contributing effectively to the successful operation of the site by taking responsibility for all aspects of leading and co-ordinating production activities and personnel on shift to achieve production targets (for example output, OEE and scrap) whilst promoting safety and continuous improvement in a manner which most effectively supports the site strategy and operation. Your key responsibilities will include: 1. Lead and co-ordinate day to day activities of team / shift within the section to ensure the achievement of local KPI’s (quality, waste, OEE, downtime etc.) ensuring that potential problems are highlighted and managed in a timely manner. 2. Work with other departments (Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Planning) to ensure their support for production and production related activities. 3. Participate in and support continuous improvement initiatives and work to ensure change is sustained, results obtained & performance improved. 4. Promote good Health & Safety practice - ensure policies are observed, the area is safe to work in, and any issues are followed up and closed off. 5. Promote quality culture where checks are carried out and quality targets are achieved. 6. Contribute to the daily production meetings. 7. Complete execution of the weekly plan. 8. Organise people to ensure area is manned / cover provided. This includes. a. Preparing changes to weekly roster. b. Co-ordinating and approving holidays / leave. c. Absence management including return to work interviews. d. Timekeeping. e. Transfers between sections / shifts. f. Handling disciplinary issues as well as investigations for more serious disciplinary cases. g. Handling grievance issues as the 1st stage in the process. 9. Lead, develop and motivate staff, managing their performance and personal development. 10. Act as the first point of contact for employee issues and seek resolution by using the resources of the team and minimising the need for further escalation. 11. Establish the requirements for training and development of employees, ensuring on the job training takes places and liaising with HR to ensure development needs are delivered. 12. Ensure 5C standards are applied and maintained. 13. Monitor and track progress on KPI’s. Update and communicate using Production data and boards. 14. Promote good communication ensuring effective handover at start of shift and participate in daily production meetings. Ensure team is up to date with production information and progress through use of regular briefings. 15. Working with all members of the Operations team to assist in the continuous improvement of the manufacturing and supply chain systems and processes to ensure best practice is consistently applied. 16. Communicating effectively with all levels of employees within the company ensuring effective relationships are developed. Interested applicants should have: • Ideally (not essentially) a third-level qualification in Production / Industrial Engineering or similar. • Relevant experience in a similar position within a manufacturing environment, ideally with a chemical background. • Strong people management skills. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. • Results orientated. • Strong problem solving and decision making skills. • Ability to work well under pressure and manage deadlines.
